About Northbrook Canoe Co.
In 1977 Caleb P Fulton sold his property along the west branch of the Brandywine Creek, then used as a feed mill, to Ezekiel Hubbard who had in mind starting up a canoe livery service on the historic waterway. Starting out with 38 canoes, a 1973 Ford Boss Van, a couple of part time staff and 20 years of knowledge in the recreation business, Hubbard shuttled people along the creek and other destinations for trips from 1 hour to several days in length.
Throughout the 39 seasons the business has seen its ups and downs, as any business would. The droughts in the early 2000s nearly closed the business for good. Taking on a partner and reorganizing the business, it went on to flourish. Now in the 39th season, the family run company has nearly 28 employees both full and part time, several transport vehicles, and has expanded their fleet to include canoes, kayaks and tubes. With the ability to accommodate groups, both large and small, and catering facilities on site, many corporations and schools have chosen Northbrook canoe to host their company picnics or end of year field trips.
The friendly staff at Northbrook Canoe Company has enjoyed providing a unique family experience since 1977. Come and join us for a short relaxing trip or a full day adventure on the Historic and Scenic Brandywine River.
